United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has filed a petition challenging a ruling by the High Court on the use of a manual register in the coming elections.
This is the second petition filed by the party which also called for an urgent meeting with the Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC) to discuss the use of the manual register immediately after the High Court ruled in its favor.
According to UDA, the meeting should include all presidential candidates to understand the implication of the register after it was declared a constitutional requirement in all elections.

Initially, IEBC had confirmed that they will only use the KIEMS kits in the voting and transmission of results, a move that was challenged by Azimio la Umoja who requested the use of both the manual and digital form during the elections.
Several questions were brought up on the disadvantages of the KEIMS kit including possible failures in the middle of the exercise.
After moving to court, IEBC was ordered to abide by the constitution to avail the manual register, a ruling that was welcomed by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
