Uhuru orders a countrywide curfew beginning Friday 27th

President Uhuru Kenyatta has ordered a countrywide curfew beginning Friday 27th March 2020 from 7 pm to 5 am.

During this period, health officials and security officers will only be allowed to move around to ensure matters health and security are dealt with.

The President also issued a list of essential services that will continue to operate during this period.

The services include licensed media houses, licensed banks and other financial institutions, licensed telecommunication companies, licensed supermarkets, licensed chemists, Publich health officials. farm produce transporters, licensed security firms and food distributors.

Other changes include the temporary suspension of Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) for a period of one year from 1st April 2020.

Statutory payments like PAYE will reduce from 30% to 25%, corporate tax from 30% to 25%,Turnover tax from 3% to 1% and the Value Added Tax (VAT) from 16% to 14%.
