Uruguay beat Egypt a goal to nill

The second game of the world cup saw Egypt take on Uruguay at the Ekaterinburg Arena in Ekaterinburg.

Egypt was without Mohamed Salah who was at the bench in todays early kick off match.

Uruguay’s  forward Luis Suarez and Edison Cavani had clear chances but Egypt goalkeeper El-Shenawy denied them with Suarez hiting the post from after being awarded a free kick.

Things seemed to be going goalless before Uruguay’s centre back Jose Gimenez gave the South American the lead in the 89th minute.

Jose rose to receive Carlos Suarez’s free kick to give Uruguay crucial three points joining the host Russia who thrashed Saudi Arabia 5-0 in yesterdays opener.

Salah’s team is now under pressure to win as they meet the host Russia on 19th.Uruguay however can breathe as they face Saudi Arabia on 20th.
