Wiper Democratic Movement is set to announce former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s replacement for the Mombasa gubernatorial seat.
This is after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) barred the former Governor from contesting in the August after failing to submit his original degree certificate as required by law.
After the confirmation, IEBC Dispute Tribunal granted Wiper a 72 hour window to field another candidate for the same position.

Taking on social media, Sonko congratulated his running mate and Kisauni MP Hon. Ali Mbogo for the big announcement loading hinting as the possible replacement for the top job.
Before Sonko’s entry into the Mombasa politics Wiper had fronted the Kisauni MP and even ruled out any intention of welcoming Sonko in the race before they made a turnaround and confirmed his candidature.
The former Nairobi Governor has however received backlash from his opponents who he claimed were behind his hinderance in succeeding incumbent Governor Ali Hassan Joho.
