World rare white giraffes killed by poachers in Garissa

Two rare white giraffes have been killed in Garissa County by poachers as confirmed by rangers in the region.

The remains of the mother and male calf by wildlife rangers manning Hirola Community Conservancy.

They expressed their sadness to lose such precious animals who were termed as the only ones remaining in the world.

Experts revealed their pigmentation was caused by a genetic condition known as leucism.

in 2017, the giraffes made headlines across the world thanks to a video photographer who visited the conservancy.

Other countries that have had similar kind of giraffes include Tanzania and Ethiopia even though experts warned that they were likely going to make it past six months.
