Joel Biggie Matiza the Minister Transport in Zimbabwe has succumbed to COVID-19 at St. Annes Hospital in the capital Harare.
Mr. Joel becomes the fourth high ranking government official to succumb to the disease in the country.
Some days ago, the country’s Foreign Minister Sibusiso Moyo died from the disease causing concerns on the impact of the virus in the country.

Zimbabwe is among other African countries experiencing a rise in the number of cases calling on the government to act swiftly to contain the situation.
Other countries with increasing number of cases include Malawi as the President admitted to laxity from both the government and citizen as he promised to revisit containment measures.
South Africa remains the highest impacted country in Africa recording both the highest number of infections and deaths.
They are at the moment battling the new COVID-19 variant that is feared to be more contagious than the first one.
A number of European countries are already restricting planes from highly infected country with the new variant from coming in as they find ways of dealing with it.
