The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has moved to court seeking order to probe 17 mobile numbers linked to the death of social media influencer Albert Ojwang.
According to IPOA, they are requesting court’s permission to access the account opening details, call data and travel plans of the 17 phone numbers in question for the period between June 4th to June 8th 2025.

Through Abdirahman Jibril, the independent body would like telecom giants Safaricom to appoint and expert who would verify the information collected from there end during the investigation.
They have also requested a copy of the investigation be served to the Chief Executive Officer of Safaricom Peter Ndegwa.
“Safaricom Kenya Limited holds crucial information and documentation that will significantly aid in ensuring a comprehensive, impartial, and conclusive investigation into this incident,” said IPOA
