Ugandan activist Agather has returned to Kampala and reunited with her family days after she was detained in Tanzania.
Confirming the news was Agora Discourse who revealed that she was blindfolded, stripped naked and pictures taken of her naked.
“She was blindfolded, stripped naked, and subjected to severe humiliation and degrading treatment including being photographed nude without her consent. She was tortured, verbally abused, denied food, and had all her personal belongings including her phone and money stolen.

After being held in illegal detention for four days without charge, she was abandoned around 2 a.m approximately 2 kilometers from the Uganda–Tanzania border at Mutukula, with no means of communication or transport. A good Samaritan found her and brought her to the border post where she was finally able to contact her colleagues.
She is now receiving medical attention and will be taking time to rest and recover in the coming days. Thank you to everyone who stood in solidarity and demanded her release.” read the statement
Agather was arrested and detained alongside Kenyan activist Boniface Mwangi who was dumped in Diani days after Kenyans started raising questions into his whereabouts.
