Boda Boda Association breaks silence over State House empowerement distribution

The Boda Boda Association has broken its silence over allegations that youth who attended the empowerment programme at State House were duped.

Through their President, Kelvin Mmbadi, the association termed the allegations on social media as false and politically driven.

According to Mmbadi, the association had already deliberated on which riders were to receive the motorcycles, and those were the names forwarded, and they indeed received them.

“On that day, fewer than two hundred motorcycles were there, and those who went to the statehouse were over 6000, and there is no way everyone was to be given a motorcycle,” he said

“Before they went there, the riders had agreed on who would be given the motorcycles. I want to assure you that boda boda riders who went to the statehouse were given the motorcycles because their names had already been submitted,” he continued

The August 13th event has come under heavy criticism, especially on social media, after some individuals who claimed to have attended the event claimed that they did not receive the promised goodies.

The allegations, however, were refuted by Dennis Itumbi, the Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy.

‘’Only the group chairmen were allowed to collect the items. That was the official process. Deceit and lies – Nairobi Empowerment season two, will follow,’’ he said
