Emma Heming Willis, the wife of former US actor Bruce Willis, has confirmed that he is in great health, but his brain is failing him.
The 70-year-old Sixth Sense and Die Hard star was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia three years ago, and his language has since been affected.
“Bruce is still very mobile. Bruce is in really great health overall, you know,” Emma told ABC News. “It’s just his brain that is failing him,” she continued
According to Emma, the side effects of the sickness have made them adapt to handling him, especially in matters of communication. “The language is going, and, you know, we’ve learned to adapt,” she said
“And we have a way of communicating with him, which is just a… different way.” she added
According to NHS website, frontotemporal dementia is a rare form of dementia that affects both behaviour and language.
Through her upcoming book, Emma hopes that those battling the same challenges will be able to navigate through it.
“It’s his laugh, right? He has such a hearty laugh. And sometimes you’ll see that twinkle in his eye, or that smirk, and I just get transported,” she said
“And it’s just hard to see, because as quickly as those moments appear, then it goes. It’s hard. But I’m grateful. I’m grateful that my husband is still very much here.” she continued
Bruce Willis and Emma are blessed with two daughters with the actor having three other daughters with former partner Demi Moore.
