Chaos erupted on Thursday during the launch of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s new party Democracy for the Citizen’s Party in Lavington, Nairobi.
His security team was forced to fire in air so as to scare off goons who had camped outside the party’s office during the launch. Some of those caught in the chaos, were beaten in full glare of the media.

The launch of the new party is set to bring a major power struggle between him and President William Ruto’s United Democratic Party (UDA) come 2027.
The party logo features neon green, brown, and white colours with an ear logo revealing that it will listen to citizens. Its slogan is ‘Skiza Wakenya.’
At DCP, Gachagua will be the party leader deputized by former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala. Former Meru Senator and Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi will be the National Organizing Secretary and former Laikipia Woman Rep Cate Waruguru will be the National Women leader.
