“The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has secured a major win today as the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court orders a refund of Kes. 25,334,525.50 following the cancellation of an illegal tender for the renovation of Kenyatta Municipal Stadium and the construction of spectator sheds in Trans Nzoia County.
In a judgment rendered by Hon. Justice Nixon Sifuna, the court declared the tender null and void and directed Joseph Muindi Tevulo, the former Head of Supply Chain Management at the county, and businessman Robert Simiyu Wambulwa – trading as KOYI Building Contractors, to refund Kes. 25,334,525.50 paid in the two fraudulent projects to the government, together with interest accrued from the date of filing the suit to payment in full.
The judgment is a significant milestone for the Commission in its ongoing efforts to recover misappropriated public funds and assets.” said EACC
