CS Murkomen terms June 25th protest as an attempted coup

Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen has now termed the Wednesday, June 25th protest as an attempted coup in the country given the events of the day.

Addressing the media, the CS not only noted that it was attempt to seize power but it also targeted houses belonging to politicians and destroying businesses.

According to the CS, they have obtained evidence of vehicles arriving with loads of cash to give the protestors so as to kick out the current regime from power.

He continued by applauding the police of working within their mandate and that no excess force was used to calm the situation.

“This has nothing to do with protests, but an unconstitutional attempt to change the regime. The police were able to foil an attempted coup. Our security agencies exercised remarkable restraint amid provocation.

I want to say to the brave officers injured while protecting property against rioters and hired thugs. We feel your pain and sacrifice that embody patriotism.

No church member will speak about how the police were attacked and suffered immense pain. I also know no diplomat will defend our police because it’s not in their interest for Kenya to be safe. They prefer anarchy and chaos at the expense of peace. I thank you, police officers, for a job well done.” he said

CS Kipchumba Murkomen assured the police that the government has their back and that they will come after all those behind the protest.
