Dangote Group has confirmed the passing of Ruth Otabor, the sister of BBNaija Season 7 winner Phyna.
Ruth passed away on 31st August after sustaining serious injuries from a road accident involving a Dangote truck in Auchi, Edo State.
The accident led to the amputation of one of Ruth’s legs, with the risk that it could also affect the other leg. The victim also suffered head and hand injuries.
After the incident, Dangote Group promised financial support to the victim, including airlifting her to India for specialized treatment.
“Since the accident, our officials and insurance partners have been by her side, covering all financial and medical costs and supporting her family. Arrangements had been made for her to be flown to India for advanced treatment, pending medical clearance from her doctors. Sadly, despite these efforts and Ruth’s brave fight to live, we lost her today.
Her death has led to public outcry over the frequent road accidents involving the company trucks across Nigeria.
