The Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat has stepped aside to pave way for investigation into the mysterious murder of social media influencer Albert Ojwang.
Through a letter, the DIG noted that his action to step aside follows the weight of the matter at hand and the public interest in the murder of the social media influencer.

โI have today opted to step aside from the office of the Deputy Inspector General โ Kenya Police Service pending completion of investigations.
The functions of the office will henceforth be performed by my deputy until the investigations are concluded.โ he said
Lagat continued by assuring his support in the ongoing investigations to ensure that those responsible for Albertโs death are brought to book.
โI undertake to provide any support that may be required of me during the investigations of the unfortunate incident,โ he said
DIG Eliud Lagatโs name was brought into the limelight after it emerged that Albert Ojwang had been arrested after a complaint was raised by the DIG over defamation claims.
