The investigation revealed that the company, in collusion with public officials, irregularly inflated the original contract value from Kes. 29.3 million to Kes. 59 million, resulting in an overpayment of Kes. 22 million for services not rendered.
Additionally, the company falsely claimed a further Kes. 9 million, leading to the fraudulent auction of Matili Institute’s driving school motor vehicle, valued at Kes. 5.4 million, for Kes. 1.2 million.
The suspects were apprehended in Bungoma and are currently being processed at EACC Headquarters and the Western Regional Office. The Commission will submit its findings to the Director of Public Prosecutions with recommendations for criminal charges and asset recovery.” said DCI
