A fire alarm has been activated at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) terminal IC before it was vacated as a precautionary measure.
Flights have been smoothly redirected to Terminals 1A & 1B as the fire and rescue teams moved in swiftly to contain the situation at hand.
“Fire alarm activated at JKIA’s Terminal 1C. Terminal temporarily vacated as a precaution, but all flights have been smoothly relocated to Terminals 1A & 1B. Operations continue as normal. Passengers should check with airlines for updates. Safety is our priority.” said K.A.A
“At 14:55 hours today, the fire alarm system at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) Terminal 1C Check-in area was activated. The airport’s Fire and Rescue fighting team promptly responded to the situation.
While the alarm was initially silenced, it continued to be reactivated, prompting the temporary shutdown of the fire alarm system for further investigation. As a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and security of passengers and operations personnel, Terminal 1C was temporarily vacated.
All flights scheduled for Terminal 1C have been seamlessly relocated to Terminal 1A and Terminal 1B, with no disruptions to flight operations. JKIA’s operations remain normal, and teams are on-site working to resolve the issue.
Passengers are advised to check with their respective airlines for any updates regarding terminal assignments. The airport management assures the public that safety remains a top priority and appreciates the cooperation of all stakeholders during this time.” said K.A.A
