Former Laikipia North MP Mathew Lempurkel has passed away, a week after he was involved in a road accident at Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County.
After the accident, the former Legislator was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a Nairobi hospital before passing away on Sunday.
Mourning his death was former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who said that his legacy will live on.

“I have learnt of the untimely passing on of Hon. Mathew Lempurkel with a heavy heart. Hon. Lempurkel was a member of the DCP Democracy and a former Member of Parliament for Laikipia North.

Mathew Lempurkel served as an MP from 2013 to 2017 under ODM before moving to United Democratic Alliance in 2023.
He later ditched President Ruto’s party for DCP, a party he served before meeting his death.
