Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has passed away in the U.K where he was receiving treatment.
Confirming the passing of the 82-year-old was confirmed by his aide and President, with the President saying that he passed away following a prolonged illness.
Buhari, a former military ruler in his 80’s rose through the ranks to become the Head of State for two terms runing from 2015 to 2023.
“The family of the former president has announced the passing on of the former president, Muhammadu Buhari, this afternoon in a clinic in London,” said Buhari’s spokesman Garba Shehu.
The current President has ordered his Vice to go to U.K and accompany Buhari’s body to Nigeria and also called for all flags to fly half mast.
The news comes at a time when the government has been accused not revealing important medical information. This is after the former President appearing sick often but his illness was never revealed.
