Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called on Meru residents to boycott a luxury linked to President William Ruto.
Speaking on Friday during a three-day tour of the region, the Democracy for Citizen Party (DCP) leader accused the Head of State of being behind his impeachment that was caused by false accusations levelled against him.
He continued by accusing a section of Meru Legislators of siding with the government to facilitate his ouster, a move that he claims has caused the region to lag behind on matters development.

“Mimi singekubali kuungana naye akiuwa watoto. Alitaka kugawanya Mlima ndio atukalie vile Moi alitukalia kwa miaka 24. Alitaka kutumia huyu soprano eti Wameru, Wakikuyu na Waembu wakao kando ndio atutawale.
Nguvu yetu ni kukaa tukiwa pamoja. Sasa wewe Kasongo, badala utujengee barabara ya kutupelekea mazao kwa factoria, wewe unajenga barabara ya kuenda kwa hoteli yako, na unafikiria Wameru ni wajinga watakuja kukunywa chai katika hoteli yako… Kasongo anyolewe, asinyolewe.” he said
Speaking at the same event was former Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi who called on the public not to live in fear for calling out the government.
“Ndio mnaona tumetoa kifua mbele na tumesema tutaenda mbele na wengine watafuata. Na tuko hapa kuwaambia msishtuke, msinunue uoga. Na hata kama hatuna wabunge, Meru has no shortage of leaders that are patriotic, that can work day and night to liberate Meru.” he said
