Gov’t officers in Marsabit County warned against abetting smuggling

Government officials from Marsabit County have been put on notice to cease abetting smuggling at the Kenya-Ethiopia border.

Issuing the notice was Marsabit County Commissioner James Kamau who revealed the increased number of cases of human trafficking, counterfeit goods and illicit drugs at the border warning governemnt who will be arrested will face dire consequences.

Kamau was speaking after detectives nabbed 147 baes of bhang with a street value of 19.3 million, the biggest cache discovered in two weeks.

he continued by praising the good work of National Police Reservist (NPR) who have been assisting the police end the trade in the areas of Elebor and Ambalo.

“As much as we commend the police and the NPR for the good work, there is glaring evidence that some public servants and offices could be complacent,” he said

According to Kamau, the three suspects arrested will face the full force of the law as the police confirmed also confisticating a vehicle that was used by the suspects.
