President William Ruto has suffered a major setback as the High Court has halted the privatization of Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC).
Issuing the orders on Friday morning was Justice Bahati Mwamuye who noted that the proceedings should be halted until when a case before the court is heard and determined.
“Pending the inter parties hearing and determination of the applicant’s notice of notion dated 14/08/2025, a conservatory order be and is hereby issued restraining the Respondents from offering for sale any shares of the Kenya Pipeline Company,” said the court

The court has also called on the petitioners to serve all interested parties with the necessary documents before hearing kicks off.
“The respondents and the interested parties shall enter appearance and file and serve their respective responses to both the application and the petition; and they shall do so by close of business 22/08/2025,” said Justice Bahati Mwamuye
“The petitioner shall have leave to file and serve a rejoinder, if need be, and it shall do so by close of business 29/08/2025.” he continued
The news comes at a time when the Cabinet approved the sale of KPC with the aim of improving the parastatal through growth and innovation.
