Omoto stands accused of orchestrating a deceptive plan aimed at unlawfully acquiring public funds through fabricated medical claims.
Allegedly, he fraudulently obtained Sh2.5 million from SHA through the fabrication of false representations and manipulating health-related documents that were submitted to the authority.
He faces multiple charges, including obtaining money by false pretences, in violation of Section 313 of the Penal Code, and the falsification of health documents under Section 48(5) of the SHA Act. Additionally, he is charged with acquiring and using proceeds of crime, which breaches Section 4(a) and (b) as read with Section 16(1) of the Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Act (POCAMLA).
In court, Omoto denied all the charges, and the judge ordered his remand at Industrial Area Prison.
A mention of the case is scheduled for Monday, January 12, 2026, when the court will issue a ruling on his bail application.
