A section of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examiners have downed their tools over alleged unpaid allowances.
Over 800 examiners are stationed at Mary Hills Girls’ High School, marking English Paper 2 downed their tools and held demonstrations on Sunday, demanding their payments.
According to them, the government is yet to pay their allowances three weeks after they began the exercise across the country.

They revealed that they will not resume the exercise until the government honours their request.
It has since been revealed that the government was to pay them Ksh 5,000 in allowances, and the payments were to be received five days after they kicked off the exercise.
The KCSE 2025 marking exercises are expected to end on 15th December, with the results set to be released in January 2026.
