A Kithimani court has sentenced a man to death after attacking and stealing from the mother of a former Member of Parliament.
Josephat Mutuku Kasyema was sentenced after attacking 80-year-old Agnes Njeri Kilonzo, the mother of former MP Charles Kilonzo.
The court was informed that the accused stole a mobile phone worth Ksh 15,000 and cash from the old woman before cutting her head with a panga.

“A Kithimani court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for attacking and stealing from the mother of former Member of Parliament Charles Kilonzo.
Josephat Mutuku Kasyema was sentenced to serve a death sentence for attacking Agnes Njeri Kilonzo, an 80-year-old woman.
The court heard that the accused robbed the victim of her mobile phone, a Samsung Galaxy J2 valued at Ksh.15,000, and an unknown amount of cash and cut her on her head using a panga.
The accused person is said to have tied the victim with ropes and left her alone in the house before he was rescued later.
The court ruled that the attack was so vicious and heartless that it led Agnes to lose the power of speech.
The accused committed the offence on 8th December 2023, at the Ndarani area in Yatta Sub-County in Machakos.
The matter was prosecuted by Fred Nderitu, Lydia Wang’ombe, and James Gachoka.” said ODPP
