22-year-old Boniface Kariuki, a mask vendor who was shot in head has been declared brain dead by doctors as revealed by the family.
The June 17th incident which occurred right in the middle of a protest raised more questions into police brutality in country.
Addressing the media was the family spokesperson Emily Wanjiru who revealed the devastating news.

“We received a call at around midnight from the hospital itself; they needed to have a brief with us… The reality of the things that are happening is that Boniface Kariuki is confirmed brain dead,” she said
Also speaking was Boniface’s father John Kariuki who said that even though they have not been told that he is dead, they have been informed about his brain being dead.
“I was called by the doctors at around midnight and told to come talk with the medics. We have been told that he is brain dead. We have not been told whether he is gone, but just that he is brain dead, but the heart is still beating,” he said
“We are calling upon Kenyans to help us in this time—the whole process, justice, and the bills.” he continued
The family is now calling on well wishers and Kenyans at large to help them raise the funds to settle the medical bill which now stands at Ksh 3 million. The medical bill paybill number 7682551 and the account name is the sender’s name.
It is also the plea of the family that they get the deserved justice and financial support to cover the medical bill.
