Nairobi County Chief Officer for Environment, Geoffrey Mosiria has offered cash rewards for reporting those vandalizing county dustbins.
Speaking on Monday, Mosiria offered Ksh 10,000 to those who report scrap metal dealers purchasing vandalized county dustbins.
He also offered a Ksh 5,000 cash reward to anyone who reports individuals vandalizing and taking away the dustbins within the city.

“It is unfortunate that after we reinstalled dustbins in the CBD, some individuals have resorted to vandalising them and stealing parts of these public facilities. As the County Government, we will not tolerate such acts.
For those scrap metal buyers who are buying bins that belong to the county government, we are coming from you. The Ksh5,000 offer for anyone who reports people who vandalise and sell dustbins is still there, but for those who will spot scrap metals with these bins, I will give them Ksh10,000,” he said
Mosiria was speaking as he confirmed his commitment to ensuring that the dustbins are safeguarded, saying that they are meant to benefit the common mwananchi.

We are committed to fully enforcing measures to safeguard these dustbins, which are meant for the benefit of every mwananchi. Anyone found stealing or vandalizing them will face the full force of the law, and strict action will also be taken against scrap metal dealers who purchase these stolen parts, as they are promoting this illegal activity.
We also urge members of the public to join us in protecting these public utilities so that together we can maintain a cleaner, safer, and more organized city for all.” he said
