Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) have initiated a plan to impeach Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, citing incompetence among other issues.
Led by Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Ken Ngondi, the MCAs have expressed dissatisfaction with the governor’s performance, accusing him of losing touch with the city’s affairs.
They have also accused him of failing to keep his promise to the people of Nairobi during his 2022 election campaign.

The MCAs are now expected to begin the process of collecting signatures before they can put the plan in motion.
Speaking on the matter was South B MCA Chege Waithera who said that the agenda has been approved by both Orange Democratic Movement and UDA members.
“There are so many stalled projects within the wards, and residents are constantly asking why they haven’t been completed,” he said
The MCAs believe that Sakaja enjoys only a small portion of support after he failed to meet the most basic needs of the people in the county.
“Signature collection will start very soon, and all members are coordinated. We had about 96 members attend the Kamkunji, which is well above the required threshold,” said Waithera
