Nairobi MPs threaten to move a no-confidence motion against CS Soipan Tuya

Members of Parliament (MPs) from Nairobi have threatened to move a no-confidence motion against Defense CS Soipan Tuya over the coming military recruitent exercise.

Led by Senator Edwin Sifuna, the leaders noted that some areas in Nairobi have been left behind for the exercise set to commence next month with only three area allocated.

They continued by revealing their fears that residents from other areas have been allocated the slots thus discriminating people from their areas.

According to the MPs, they have addressed the matter with the CS but they have received no reply from her thus the need to halt the exercise until their grievances are heard.

“What we are saying to the CS is we are going to censure her. We wrote to her, she has not responded and we want her to tell us what is this discrimination against Nairobi.

If this does not change we will stop the recruitment of KDF officers in the entire country unless Nairobi is treated in the same manner as the other 46 counties.” They said.

Through a letter drafted by Embakasi West MP Mark Mwenje and signed by 17 others, the leaders have taken note that the designated areas for the KDF recruitement drive are less compared to the population of Nairobi residents.

They said that the three designated areas  Nyayo Stadium, Moi International Sports Centre and Jamhuri Grounds pose logistical challenges as well.
