Nairobi Water employee charged with forging academic certificates

The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) has charged a Nairobi Water employee for forging academic certificates so as to secure employment.

Brenda Nelly Sulungai is accused of presenting a fake Diploma certificate to the agency on 4th July 2019 as a genuine qualification issued by Zetech University.

“A court has ruled that a Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) employee has a case to answer after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) presented sufficient evidence in a case she is charged with forging academic certificates to secure employment.

Appearing before the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court, the accused, Brenda Nelly Sulungai, was today placed on her defence after the court found that the prosecution had presented sufficient evidence to support all three charges against her.

Ms. Sulungai was formally charged on 31st October 2024 with Forgery, Uttering a false document and Deceiving a Principal contrary to Section 48 of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act, 2003 (ACECA).

The court heard that the accused forged a Diploma in Community Development and Social Work, purporting it to be a genuine document issued by Zetech University on 6th November 2015.” said DPP

A total of four witnesses were table before the court and it was established that the signatures on the document were neither that of the Vice Chancellor nor the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Zetech University.
