Defence and Foreign Relations chair Nelson Koech has warned envoys against interference on Kenya’s internal governance ahead of Wednesday protests.
Through a statement, Koech took note of the recent statement issued by the several ambassadors accredited to Kenya saying that the country is committed to upholding democratic principles including peaceful assembly and freedom of expression.
- Suspected land fraudster arrested for acquiring land through false pretense
- OCS Samson Talaam and five others charged with Albert Ojwang’s murder
He however referred with concern the a growing trend of envoys commenting on internal issues that risk eroding the same principles the government is attempting to uphold.
According to the Belgut MP, the State through security personnel are working to ensure that the same principle enshrined in the constitution are upheld especially in moments where peaceful protests are being hijacked by criminals.
It is in that regard that the government is seeking dialogue instead of blame games.
