President Ruto welcomes EBRD’s decision to establish office in Kenya

President William Ruto has welcomed a decision by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to establish it office for Africa in Nairobi, Kenya.

According to the President, the ratification process which is before Parliament will not only strengthen support for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) but will also promote Public-Private Partnerships which are key drivers of the economy.

The Head of State made the remarks at the sideline of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development in Seville, Spain where he met the bank’s President Odile Renaud-Basso.

“President Ruto and the EBRD President agreed on a comprehensive engagement strategy, including support for climate financing, the promotion of green investments, and the organisation of an investor conference in Nairobi later this year.

The bank also reaffirmed its alignment with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and proposed a structured, long-term engagement.” said State House

At the same event, President William Ruto held talks with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal as he committed to strengthen bilateral relationship between the two countries.

The two leaders discussed on how best to support Kenya’s commitment to address food shortages.
