Tanzania President Samia Suluhu has defended her recent actions against activists who had visited the country to attend to the hearing of Tundu Lissu.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of new government officials at State House Dar-es-Salaam, Samia called on civil servants to strongly defend the country.

She continued by urging them to remain vigilant, protect and not allow external forces to come and destabilize the country.
“The duty to protect this country is not mine alone, nor is it solely that of the defense and security forces, it is the responsibility of all of us,” she said
President Samia Suluhu continued by reminding them that the country remains a national treasure that was inherited and should be protected by all means neccessary.
“Hii ndiyo rasilimali yetu tuliyoachiwa, hatuna nyingine, naomba mkailinde.” she said
The news comes at a time when the U.S has called on thorough investigations into recent events where activists were detained and government officials accused of sexually assaulting Uganda activist Agather.
