Spike in Car Thefts Puts Toyota Prado Owners on High Alert
A growing wave of vehicle thefts is causing concern among Toyota Prado drivers, as law enforcement and security specialists warn that the sought-after SUV has become a prime target for sophisticated criminal networks.
Authorities report that the Toyota Prado—valued for its comfort, dependability, and high resale price—is increasingly being stolen through high-tech methods, including signal jamming and electronic hacking. In recent months, numerous incidents have been recorded in major cities such as Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu.
Security analyst Joseph Musyoka explained:
“Thieves frequently go after the Toyota Prado due to its lucrative resale value both locally and internationally. In many situations, these vehicles are either trafficked out of the country or dismantled and sold for parts.”
Musyoka added that theft rings now use advanced tools like relay devices to hijack key fob signals or deactivate alarm systems within moments.
