Telco giant Safaricom has rolled out a new feature dubbed Shiriki Pay, which allows someone to give direct M*Pesa access to another person.
The new feature, which works between two registered M-Pesa users, works just like a credit card, where one person can set a spending limit on their wallet.
The user who has been granted permission by the holder will now be able to pay merchants directly from the holder’s wallet without the need to request money every time.

Shiriki Pay, however, limits the user to just using Lipa na M-PESA (Buy Goods & Paybill) and Pochi la Biashara merchants.
The user is also not allowed to exceed the set limit, send money to other mobile users, or withdraw cash. It is limited to merchant payments.
How to set up Shiriki Pay
Account Holder provides the user’s phone number, full name, and contact details. Any other documents requested by Safaricom are submitted, and the setup is completed via the M-PESA App using the Account holder’s Pin for security purposes.
Account holders can revoke access anytime, and users can also stop using the service, even though transactions already done cannot be reversed. All the standard M-Pesa charges apply.
