The Senate through Speaker Amason Kingi has declared Senator Gloria Orwoba’s position vacant following her expulsion from UDA.
Through a special issue of the Kenyan Gazette, the Speaker declared the seat vacant effective 21st May 2025.

“IT IS notified for the general information of the public that pursuant to Article 101 (2) of the Constitution of Kenya, a seat of the Member of the Senate elected under Article 98 (1) (b) of the Constitution, held by Senator Gloria Orwoba, has become vacant with effect from the 21st May, 2025.” said Speaker Amason Kingi
The news comes barely days after the nominated Senator was expelled from UDA following her call up with the disciplinary committee.
After obtained court orders halting the hearing process, Orwoba defended her recent association with former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i saying that it was about matters community which are bipartisan.
