A stock theft suspect has passed away after committing suicide inside a police cell at Katito police station in Kisumu County.
The man had been brought in by Agoro West Location area Chief on Friday night only to be found hanging by the door after committing suicide using a vest as seen through a police report.

Confirming the incident was police constables Juliana Koka and Andrew Okong’o hwo were alerted by their colleague Sergeant Nixon Lukwa over commotion inside the cell.
Upon reaching at the door, they found the body of the man hanging with the vest tied around his neck but efforts to help him failed as he succumbed to injuries he had sustained.
“Efforts were made to rescue him by cutting the vest, but unfortunately he succumbed to injuries,” read the police report
Investigation into the incident has been launched with DCI officers confirmed to have visited the scene to ascertain the allegations.
