Police officers from Ahero Police Station in Kisumu County have arrested two traffickers and recovered a haul of cannabis stashed inside a vehicle they were in.
The drugs were concealed in two 90kg sacks before they were taken in as exhibits to be used against the suspects who are in police custody.
“Earlier today, police officers from Ahero Police Station in Kisumu County, while conducting routine road checks, flagged down a motor vehicle at a roadblock in Ahero along the Kisumu–Nairobi Highway.

The driver failed to stop when signalled, prompting a chase. The vehicle was eventually intercepted in the Ngere area. Upon conducting a thorough search, officers discovered two 90kg sacks concealed in the cabin behind the driver’s seat, as well as another 90kg sack hidden on top of the fuel tank.
All the sacks were found to contain suspected cannabis sativa. The driver and another occupant of the vehicle were arrested and placed in custody pending arraignment.
The recovered exhibits have been secured at the station, and the vehicle has been detained pending further police action.
