The World Health Organization (WHO) has revealed that there is no conclusive evidence that links autism to the use of acetaminophen, also known as paracetamol, during pregnancy.
The statement follows the recent revelation by the US President Donald Trump, who linked the use of the drug to the increased risk of autism in babies.
According to Trump, the US Food and Drug Administration will notify doctors of the dangers paracetamol poses to babies.

“They are strongly recommending that women limit Tylenol use during pregnancy unless medically necessary,” he said, raising concerns over the use of the drug during pregnancy.
Autism is a condition that affects brain development, causing difficulties in social interaction and communication. Autistic patients also exhibit difficulty in shifting activities and reacting to sights and sounds.
“Autism and neurodevelopmental disorders are among the priority mental health and neurological conditions being discussed at the 4th UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs and mental health. As a global community, we need to do more to understand the causes of autism and how best to care for and support the needs of autistic people and their families.” said WHO
