Eid Forest continued by saying that the gunman was among those killed and the police believe that he acted alone as he is not known to the police.
The affected school identified as Campus Risbergska serves students aged over 20 years in both its primary and upper secondary. It also offers Swedish classes to immigrants, vocational training and programs for people with intellectual disabilities.
Even though gun violence in Sweden is rare, there have been several cases in recent years which also involved knives and axes.
Police have also confirmed that the incident is not linked to terrorism in any way and there were no signs before it happened.
