Twelve prison officers have been arrested after six robbery with violence suspects escaped from custody at Siaya Law Court.
The six suspects Fredrick Wafula Shikanda, John Ngote Itole, Farid Kimtai, John Okumu alias Otis, Albert Otieno alias Oliver and Kevin Otieno Odhiambo, escaped moments after appearing before the court.
Confirming the incident was Siaya County Police Commander Serah Koki who noted that the officers are being questioned over the security lapse that occurred.

“We are holding 12 officers as we continue with the investigations. They shall help in unearthing the events that unfolded yesterday when the suspects were brought to court,” she said
Koki continued by revealing that a manhunt for the six is ongoing without revealing additional information in that regard.
It has since been established that the suspects fled the court premises shortly after they had been arraigned and that they were nowhere to be seen.
“It happened within a short period, one time they were in court and the next minute they were nowhere to be seen,” revealed a court official to Standard Media.
