Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has called for a review of the 2025/26 fixture, where players are allowed to rest ahead of crucial games.
Silva spoke after the Arsenal-Manchester clash on Sunday, calling for sense among the officials.
He continued by saying it’s not about playing every three or four games, but rather playing such matches and then going straight to a crucial clash, which looks like a deliberate plan to have them drop points.

“We cannot come to one of the most important games [vs Arsenal] in the season with such a disadvantage, in terms of rest,” he said
“It’s not fair to play one of these games like this. It’s just not right,” said Silva
“We don’t mind playing every three or four days, don’t mind playing 60 games,” he said
“But what we ask for is common sense for one of the biggest games of the season. I don’t think they’re trying to make us lose – it could happen to Arsenal or Liverpool in a few months,” he continued
Silva’s concern has also been raised by managers who have called for a better fixture given that most top clubs have Champions League fixtures over the week.
