A Mombasa based bus hit an elephant and injured one person along the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway in Maungu.
Residents of Maungu descended on the carcasses of the elephant as more and more passengers were confirmed to have sustained injuries before they were rushed to Moi County Referral Hospital in Voi.
At the time of the accident, the bus was heading to Nairobi from Mombasa and due to overspeed, the driver failed to control it when he came across an elephant crossing into Tsavo East National Park.
