DP Gachagua seeks court intervention to halt impeachment

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has once again moved to court to halt the impending impeachment case before the Senate.

In what is the 24th application by the Deputy President, Gachagua has listed 10 items for the court to consider before the process before the Senate is heard and determined come next week.

Through his lawyer Paul Mwite, the DP termed the impeachment backed by 282 MPs as an outright allegation and lies peddled before the house to justify the matter.

He continued by saying that the public participation done by the Legislators was not meaningful and the matter was debated on issue outside the motion.

According to the DP, many MPs were under pressure to support the impeachment motion which in the first place was on matters constitution and not undermining the Head of State as alleged.

Gachagua noted how the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetengula and his deputy, Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Boss Shollei were in support of it when they are tasked with being the controllers of the debate.

It is the wish of the Deputy Presiden to have the matter before the Senate halted from hearing by Justice Chacha Mwita of the Milimani High Court.
