Former CHADEMA Secretary-General and fierce critic of Tanzania President Samia Suluhu Dr. Willbrod Slaa has been arrested over treason allegations.
Slaa was arrested on Sunday in an intensified crackdown by the government of critics of the now famous Tanzania-Dubai agreement.
According to the agreement, the Dubai-based multinational logistics company DP World will take over some functions at the port of Dar es Salaam, a move that has termed as beneficial to the company and not to the country.

The former Tanzania ambassador to Sweden was arrested at his home in Mbweni before he was taken to Kawe Police Post for questioning.
Unconfirmed reports said that Dr. Willbrod Slaa was taken by the police to his home after interrogation to conduct a search before he himself revealed the news on Clubhouse, a social audio app.
“I’ve received some guests here, some police officers have entered my house, but I’ve not spoken to them,” he said.
Other arrested for criticizing the deal include Boniface Mwabukusi and Mdude Nyagali, allegations that the police first denied before revealing that they are in their custody and that they will be charged with sedition.
The Inspector General of Police Camilius Wambura had already threatened the arrest of anyone who will attempt to cause chaos in the country.
