Arsenal have signed Gabriel Heinze who will be part of Mikel Arteta’s coaching staff, replacing Carlos Cueta who joined Parma as the club’s head coach.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid defender has been Mikel Arteta’s teammate at PSG, a club that shaped the Spaniard’s professional career.
“The other inspirations were Pochettino and Heinze, those two were next to me all the time, behind me, and they were guiding me in everything I had to do in my professional life, how I had to understand the game and they were inspirational to me.” said Mikel Arteta in a past interview.
The 47-year-old Argentine has held managerial roles at Godoy Cruz, Major League Soccer (MLS) club Atlanta United and Newell’s Old Boys, his boyhood club.
Heinze is a well decorated player having won league tittles with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Marseille.
