On Saturday May 31st, a major solar event occurred when the sunspot region unleashed an M8.2 solar flare directed towards earth.
The large scale eruption and full halo Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) is expected to cause a major storm on earth late Sunday heading into Monday.
The impact is also expected to be powerful as the CME’s speed was measured at 1938 km/s, a high speed that could be felt on earth once it hits hard.
Scientists and enthusiasts have expressed excitement over the solar activities that will also include auroral displays. Radio blackouts are also expected to occur during this time.
