Emergency teams from Mombasa have contained fire at Mombasa Water and Sewage Company IMOWASCO) that broke out last evening.
Supporting the teams was Kenya Navy and Kenya Ports Authority among other partners who were present at the tie incident.
Confirming the incident was Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir who assured residents that critical data was secure and that services will continue uninterupted.

“This evening, a fire broke out at the MOWASSCO offices in Mombasa’s Central Business District. Thanks to the swift response of our County Emergency Teams, backed by crucial support from the Kenya Navy and Kenya Ports Authority, the fire has been fully contained. Three county fire engines were on site and effectively supported by our national partners to preserve life and property.
Senior government officials led by County Secretary Jeizan Faruk, alongside Chief Officers Swaleh Mwalizuma, Eng. Ali Abdulrahman, Eng. Albert Keno, and MOWASSCO MD Farah Abdirahim, were on the ground supervising the response. Incident Commanders Ibrahim Basafar and Central OCPD Maxwell Agoro led operations at the scene. Also present and supportive were Mombasa Women Rep Hon. Zamzam Mohamed and area MCA Abdirahman Hussein.
We are grateful that there were no casualties. The County Government reassures residents that service continuity is assured. All critical data is securely backed up on cloud-based systems, and this unfortunate incident will not disrupt the delivery of services.
