1kg of sugar to retail at Ksh 260 as prices set to increase further

Kenyans will have to tighten their belts as the price of sugar is set to rice further following government adjustments.

The price of 1kg of sugar will now retail at Ksh 260 after the government introduced exercise duty on importation and suspension of local milling.

The announcement will definitely cause soar taste to Kenyans who were already dealing with the sudden hike in the price shortly after the new regime took office.

A 2kg packet of the precious commodity once retailed at Ksh 220 hiked to Ksh 413 in the shortest time indicating thing were not okay in terms of the economy.

Kenyans have not once called on the government to act swiftly over the high cost of living that is slowly becoming unbearable to many who are now forced to make major cuts in their expenses.

Major changes are expected soon after the Court lifted conservatory orders of the controversial Finance Act 2023.
