Amollo Threatens Gachagua: Impeaching You Wasn’t Enough, We’ll Invoke Article 75(3)

Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo has announced plans to introduce a motion in Parliament that would permanently disqualify former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from ever holding public office in Kenya.

While addressing a fundraiser event in Rongo on Sunday, Amollo criticized Gachagua for fueling political divisions and failing to heed the lessons of his 2024 impeachment by the Senate. He claimed Gachagua’s ongoing actions are deepening national disunity.

“Each time you speak, it’s clear you’ve learned nothing,” Amollo stated. “We impeached you under Article 75 of the Constitution, but we didn’t go all the way. That was just the beginning.”

Amollo emphasized that Parliament has the legal mandate under Article 75(3) to prevent any individual removed from office under that provision from seeking elected positions in the future. He cautioned Gachagua that persisting in using inflammatory rhetoric could prompt such legislative action.

“If you keep making divisive statements, we will push for a special motion under Article 75(3), which permanently bars anyone ousted under this article from running for office again,” Amollo warned.

He further remarked, “Actions have consequences. If you persist with such rhetoric, expect repercussions.”

Gachagua, currently at the helm of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), has launched a political campaign targeting President William Ruto’s administration. However, some of his recent remarks have sparked widespread criticism. CLICK H|ERE>>>>>Amollo Threatens Gachagua: Impeaching You Wasn’t Enough, We’ll Invoke Article 75(3) to read full story
